Prince Harry has reportedly realised the extent of the damage he's caused to his relationship with the Royal family.
News of his father's battle with cancer is said to have been something of a wake-up call for the 39-year-old, leading him to fly back to the UK to check in.
Harry and Charles are reported to have had several friendly phone chats before Harry left his home in California, US, last week. Although they only spent half an hour together, sources say that Harry, who stepped down from his senior Royal role with Meghan Markle in 2020, is open to temporarily returning to Royal duties to support his sick father.
It appears Harry recognises the effort he'll need to make to mend fences with the monarchy after the couple's public criticisms. A Royal insider told OK: "Meghan doesn't want anything to do with it and is keen to stay away from England, but Harry feels he must repair the damage that has been caused."
"There have been plenty of emotional conversations and heart to hearts over the best way to handle the situation and move forward. Harry wants to put an end to the feud and regrets the way that things have turned out."
"There's no plan B for Harry, patching things up with his family is the only option. It's finally hit home how difficult it will be to repair the damage caused by the various swipes at his family over the years."
"Harry wants to spend more time in the UK and bring the children over to be with their grandparents and cousins, but he will have to prove himself first. That's been made very clear to him."
Prince William did not see his younger brother during his fleeting visit to the UK, and Royal sources told the Mirror there is "no chance" the heir would allow his brother back. "Whatever has been discussed between William and the King is private, but it is absolutely and categorically clear that he (William) would not allow Harry to return."
