Meghan Markle going back to Suits for the spin-off series would be a "step backward" as there is "no indication she can become a Hollywood star", it has been claimed.
According to reports in recent weeks, NBCUniversal has had the green light to go ahead with Suits: Los Angeles - a spin-off show of the hit legal drama that Meghan starred in as Rachel Zane. Many of the episodes are "already written", as per reports.
Meghan is said to have been offered "one of the biggest TV deals" of 2024 for the series, with her also understood to have been offered the chance to direct an episode of the spin-off - although nothing has been confirmed.
And now, esteemed royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams has spoken out about the possibility of Meghan going back to her roots with Suits, revealing how he feels it would be "going backwards."
Speaking to The Express, he added: "There is no indication she can become a Hollywood star."
Touching again Meghan's possible involvement in Suits, Mr Fitzwilliams spoke of how it would impact Prince Harry and his work. He said: "Invictus, Sentebale in Lesotho and Wellchild are all charities he [Harry] was attached to before his marriage. So if she does Suits it links with his activities."
Mr Fitzwilliams then touched on how the couple's Archewell Foundation hasn't been doing "very well", adding how all Meghan is doing is "talking about 'exciting' projects but nothing materialises", hinting at when she declared "so many exciting things on the slate" back in November.
This comes after it was revealed in the week that Netflix's chief content officer Bela Bajaria declared that the Sussexes - who are locked into a contract with the streaming platform until 2025 - are working on "a couple of unscripted things" including a film and a series that are all in "very early development".
Asked at a preview event in Hollywood what was next for Prince Harry and Meghan, whose contract with Netflix ends in 2025, she replied: "Oh, what are they working on? They have a couple of unscripted things they’re working on with Brandon."
She added: "And they actually have, like, a bunch of development, they have a movie in development, a (scripted) series that they’re working on. So all very early development, with a movie, a TV show and a couple of unscripted shows. But yeah, the movie’s great."
