Thomas Rohler threw a monstrous distance of 93.90 metres to claim victory at the Diamond League in Doha today.
But his impressive hit came dangerously close to hitting a camera man in the process.
Footage shows Rohler launch the javelin into the air at a ferocious pace before watching it land just a few metres short of the cameraman who doesn’t flinch, and remains unfazed by the relatively near collision.
The German didn’t appear to dwell on the moment either, and gave a fist pump to celebrate his effort while waiting for the result of his throw, which ultimately put him into first place on the leaderboard.
He later went on to win the competition by over for metres.
Rohler became only the second man in history to throw such a distance, with Czech javelin great Jan Zelesny holding the current record of 98.48m, which he set in 1996.
