TV and film star Adan Canto has died at the age of 42.
It’s understood the Hollywood actor, who began his career in his native Mexico, had been diagnosed with appendiceal cancer which he was going through privately.
Canto is known for his TV roles Designated Survivor, Fox series The Cleaning Lady and The Following, and also had a role in Narcos.
The star hit the big screen with roles in X-Men: Days of Future Past and Halle Berry’s directorial debut, Bruised.
His death was announced by his reps, who said he had ‘a depth of spirit that few truly knew.’
They added to Deadline: ‘Those who glimpsed it were changed forever. he will be greatly missed by so many.’
It’s understood Canto was due to return to The Cleaning Lady for season three before his health declined but had been hoping to return when production was delayed by the Hollywood writers’ and actors’ strikes.

Canto played the leading male role in the American crime drama, after kicking off his career as a teenager in Mexico City by appearing in TV commercials.
He had also dabbled in filmmaking himself, and wrote and directed his first short film, Before Tomorrow, in 2014.
His short film The Shot was awarded several festival accolades for best narrative short film upon its release in 2020.
Fans took to X to share their condolences to Canto’s family and pay tribute to the actor, with user Trenton saying they were ‘heartbroken … fell in love with him the moment he walked on the screen as [The Cleaning Lady’s] Arman Morales.’
User Jazz said the news had ‘knocked the breath out of my body. I am STUNNED and borderline hyperventilating.’
They continued: ‘F**k cancer for taking far too many greats and so young too. RIP Adan Canto. What a tremendous talent. My heart aches for his loved ones.’
The star is survived by wife Stephanie Ann Canto and their two young children: Roman Alder, three, and 18-month-old Eve Josephine.
