Gillian Anderson made a statement with her Golden Globe Awards dress and it was certainly ‘brand appropriate’.
The 55-year-old Sex Education star stepped out onto the red carpet in a custom white strapless gown, and she explained the Gabriela Hearst outfit had a hidden anatomical reference in the embroidery.
Speaking at the event, she revealed the dress was actually embroidered with vaginas, and we’re here for it.
‘[I wore it] for so many reasons. It’s brand appropriate,’ Gillian – who isn’t one to shy away from anatomy – told Deadline.
She also opened up on the gown’s floral inspiration, telling People that her favourite part of the design was that ‘it’s covered in peonies’.
The details were visible in a certain light, and the label told the outlet that each motif took three and a half hours to embroider.

She completed the look with some stunning Chopard accessories, including an 18k white gold necklace featuring a 10-carat pear-shaped yellow diamond and almost 30 carats of diamonds.
She also wore stunning matching earrings with 18k yellow gold and 18k white gold, and four pear-shaped yellow diamonds.
Her hair and makeup was kept minimal and natural, although she did add a smokey eyeshadow and a hint of pink lipstick.
Although she’s happy to sport a stunning ensemble on the red carpet, Gillian has been open about liking to be relaxed at home – especially when it comes to bras.
‘I don’t wear a bra anymore. I don’t wear a bra. I can’t wear a bra. I can’t, no. I can’t,’ she told her Instagram followers when she was asked about her go-to outfit during Covid as part of a live Q&A.
I’m sorry, but I don’t care if I reach my belly button, my breasts reach my belly button. I’m not wearing a bra anymore. It’s just too f***ing uncomfortable.’
Meanwhile, she admitted she’d love to wear ‘comfortable’ tracksuit bottoms and a black hoodie ‘every day’ if she could get away with it.
