Prince Harry's memoir Spare gets hilarious bookshop display as fans hail 'clever' staff

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's fallout with the Royals has been huge news in the UK and across the world ever since the Sussexes started to set themselves apart from the rest of the family.

The drama has taken many twists and turns in the last few years, with the couple officially stepping back from the Firm and moving to California. Cracks continued to develop after their interview with Oprah Winfrey and their Netflix show.

And this time last year, Harry released his memoir, Spare, which caused further rifts after he revealed details about his life that had never been released in public.

The book was flying off the shelves in stores across the country as Brits rushed to get their hands on it and find out the juicy gossip about Royal life and the family fall-out.

But for one store, it was more about how Spare was placed on the shelves, as opposed to flying off them, that caught the eye. Bert's Books in Swindon went viral after sharing a snap of its window display on Twitter, formerly X, Wales Online reports.

On the first day of sales, manager Alex Call, 36, placed several copies of Prince Harry's book beside Bella Mackie's book, How To Kill Your Family.

And although some people weren't too impressed with the display, most people - both in store and online - were tickled by Alex's clever arrangement.

He said: "To be honest it was a light-hearted joke with the first customers of the day and to be fair Bella Mackie's book was already in our window. It was the best-selling book in our shop and we thought it would make everyone laugh and it has.

"Most people have taken it in the spirit it was intended but some people think we are being a bit mean about it."

Speaking about the first day of sale, Alex said: "We sold a couple but it was quiet in the shop - it always is on a Tuesday morning. I wasn't expecting a rush but a couple of copies have been sold."

Many people took to social media to react to the display, after the team posted a photo on Twitter, formerly X. One person said: "Now I am going to spend all day thinking of other books to pair."

Another said: "Someone give them a prize for the best window display." One user added: "This is how clever I aspire to be."
