Prince Harry 'blocks' Meghan Markle's book as it would 'cause more angst' with family

Prince Harry has reportedly put his foot down and warned Meghan Markle against writing a tell-all memoir, according to a source.

The Duchess of Sussex was reportedly ready to "set the record straight" about her time in the Royal Family, but Harry "put an end to her plans" as he feared repercussions from The Firm. The Duke of Sussex is said to be focusing on a possible reunion with his estranged family.

Harry caused outrage when he made several attacks against the Royal Family in his memoir, Spare, and it's believed he doesn't want the same thing to happen with Meghan's book. The source said he has also scrapped plans to write a follow-up to his debut memoir.

"Harry has openly spoken about having enough material to write a follow-up to Spare, but those plans have been scrapped. He's also put an end to Meghan's book," the source said. Speaking to New magazine, they said the move "didn't go down well with Meghan" and caused some friction.

However, the couple are said to be looking at ways they can mend their broken relationship with the Royal Family and so reached a compromise on Meghan's book. The source explained: "They eventually compromised so that Meghan could work on a book about female empowerment."

The source said Meghan's book will focus on her work championing women, instead of "taking fresh swipes at the Royal Family." The former actress has a long history of supporting women, from calling out a sexist advert at the age of 11 to appearing at the UN Women's Conference.

The source did warn that a royal reunion could still be difficult, even without Meghan's memoir. They said King Charles "will always be there for his son", but Prince William and Princess Kate are "truly done" with Harry and Meghan.

Speaking to the publication about Meghan's potential memoir, royal expert Duncan Larcombe said Meghan's it would "go down very badly". He also said it "would cause more angst" within the Royal Family.

Duncan added: "Spare made lots of money, but what is cost Harry personally was big. Another account would be a considerable spanner in the works during a time that he is said to hope to heal the rift with his family."
