Prince Harry and Meghan are parents to two young children. After the birth of their son four years ago, the couple decided to make a name change.
The royal couple actually wanted to bring a little peace to their private lives by emigrating to the US. However, this has not really worked so far, as divorce rumours have been going around most recently, and Prince Harry's memoir has fed many discussions from fans as well as from royal experts. As TheSun reports, the two are said to have made another controversial decision a long time ago.
The couple made a name change to Archie's birth certificate
When Archie, whose name has a specific meaning, saw the light of day on May 6, 2019, half the world rejoiced with the new parents. The little royal received a birth certificate at the time, of course. However, it was changed afterwards.
Royal expert has an explanation
A birth certificate contains not only information about the newborn, but also about its parents. For example, the full name of each parent is indicated. So, in the case of Archie's mother, the certificate read 'Rachel Meghan'. However, this was changed just a few days later.
On June 5, 2019, Harry's wife's first name suddenly became 'Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Sussex.'
As the Mirror quoted aristocracy expert Ingrid Seward, this may have been done to distinguish themselves from part of the family.
For a member of the royal family to change their birth certificate is a novelty, but the removal of first names is remarkable. Perhaps this is another sign that they were desperate to do something different from the Cambridges.
