The body of a British woman has been discovered on a beach in the Indian state of Goa.
Local police said she had been found dead against the wall of a church in the popular tourist spot of Agonda, Canacona, at 8pm yesterday.
Abhishek Dhania, South Goa’s police superintendent, said: ‘We have registered a case of unnatural death. Inquest proceedings are in process.’
Local media reported that the woman was a frequent visitor to the south-western coastal state over the past decade.
Police said there did not appear to be foul play involved in the death.
Goa is a top destination among UK visitors to India, with thousands attracted over by the picturesque coastline.
