A 15-year-old boy has been arrested over stabbing of Harry Pitman at New Year’s Eve fireworks

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the death of Harry Pitman on New Year’s Eve.

Harry, 16, was killed in front of thousands of witnesses on London’s Primrose Hill – one of the most popular spots in the city to watch the new year fireworks – just 20 minutes before midnight.

An 18-year-old man has also been arrested in connection with the incident, and was being held on suspicion of affray, the Metropolitan Police said.

The teenager had been among a group of friends who gathered near the viewing platform where a huge crowd of spectators were awaiting the countdown.

After the attack at 11.40pm, officers provided first aid to the teenager, but he was pronounced dead shortly before firework displays started across the city.

Another 16-year-old boy was arrested on the night of the killing, before he was released on bail.

The Met officer who is leading the investigation addressed social media speculation suggesting the attack was racially motivated, saying there is ‘no indication’ of such a motive.

Detective Chief Inspector Geoff Grogan added: ‘My thoughts and sympathies are with Harry’s loved ones as they struggle to come to terms with their loss.’

Earlier today, Harry’s 19-year-old sister Tayla spoke about her brother on TikTok, describing him as a ‘good boy’ with a ‘heart of gold’.

She also criticised people commenting on the case online, saying: ‘Harry was he was not in any way, shape or form involved with any gangs, or anyone who could cause trouble.

‘He’s not ever been in trouble with the police and people are making it out like Harry died because he did something wrong when my brother is the victim here.’
