This is the moment a thief slammed the owner of a car into a brick wall during his frantic getaway.

A man in a black tracksuit, white trainers and a green hat was caught on CCTV opening an estate vehicle parked outside a house in Doncaster, in South Yorkshire.

A second man – believed to be the owner of the car – ran towards the car which appears to have been left running to defrost the windscreen.

As he opens the door in a bid to stop the theft, the car thief slams the accelerator and reverses at full speed, dragging the owner with him and pinning him against a wall.

The car thief then flees the scene, leaving the victim screaming in pain on the ground.

Holding his wounded arm, the owner runs back inside yelling for help.

South Yorkshire Police told Metro.co.uk he was taken to hospital with ‘serious’ injuries.

A statement from the force said: ‘We were called to reports of a theft of a car on December 6, at 7.26am, on Warde Avenue, Doncaster.

‘It is reported that a black Vauxhall was taken while parked driveway of a property.

‘The owner of the Vauxhall, a 31-year-old man, approached the vehicle and was injured as it drove away.

‘The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries which required surgery. The vehicle has since been recovered and enquires remain ongoing.’
