Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are suffering their “worst nightmare” as their popularity takes a hit, an expert has claimed.
This comes after the rest of the Royal Family experienced good news over the past few months, with King Charles promoting his right-hand man, Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Thompson of the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland.
The announcement, made on Twitter, has made critics question the role of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex. With the Earthshot Prize ceremony taking place early next month, all eyes will be on Harry’s brother Prince William.
The Prince and Princess of Wales are due to jet off to Singapore for the third annual ceremony, which has proven highly successful over the years. The winning pitch to the organisation will receive £1million.
Critics believe that this will generate plenty of press attention and social media coverage, that will be viewed by Harry and Meghan from their Californian residence. With more and more positive coverage of the UK family, the Sussexes could lose their public image credibility.
Daniela Elser via News .com commented: “[Harry] is about to have to bear witness to a swath of press coverage about just how brilliant a philanthropist his older brother has become."
Added to which is the fact, that in watching the bells and whistles Earthshot bandwagon be rolled out again, the duke will be reminded of what he and Meghan gave up when they hung up their royal spurs – the connections, the cash, and the awesome convening power of royalty.”
The day before the the Earthshot prize will see press flocking to Tampa, Florida, where Meghan’s sister Samatha Markle is is suing the duchess for defamation. Samantha is seeking $75,000 worth of damages (£61,800).
Samantha’s court filing reads, per Newsweek, claimed that “Meghan continues to participate in and perpetuate the lies around her family and upbringing.” The Duchess’ lawyers are pushing to have the case overturned.
They claim Samantha is attempting “to turn a personal grudge into a federal case”. If the case does go to court, Meghan would have to “hand over to her half sister private texts, emails and other documents relevant to the case”.
Another addition to the couple’s “biggest nightmare unfolding” will come to light on Remembrance Sunday, where Harry was previously “denied” the chance to lay a wreath on the Cenotaph in 2020. The Duke was reportedly left “deeply saddened”.
That same year, the Duke and Duchess were photographed at their own ceremony where they visited a cemetery in Los Angles. They were seen laying flowers on the graves of two Commonwealth soldiers and then released the images to the world.
Critics did not respond well to the images, claiming the royals were just performing a PR stunt rather than being genuine.
