Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle were once close friends with David and Victoria Beckham, before rumours of a fall out emerged after the former royals suspected the Beckhams of leaking stories to the press.
Whilst Prince Harry and David Beckham were once seen to be close, it appears that they have more of a tense friendship and distanced relationship now.
The pair, who were seen together previously, have reportedly fallen out in 2018 with the spat never seemingly resolved.
The Beckhams and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are rumoured to have fallen out when the Sussexes allegedly accused the Beckhams of leaking stories about them to the press, which the Beckhams profusely denied and were 'furious' about.
Over the years there have been signs of a 'feud' with the Sussexes reportedly shunning events like football games if the Beckhams were in attendance.
Firm friendships
In 2017 when Meghan and Prince Harry settled together in the UK at Kensington Palace, the Beckhams were rumoured to be some of their closest friends.
The friendship grew according to the Mail on Sunday after the couples bonded through some mutual friends. David Beckham's communications director Izzy May was friends with Markus Anderson, chief membership officer for private social club Soho House, who helped arrange Meghan's secret dates with Harry.
By the time Meghan and Prince Harry had announced their engagement in 2017, Meghan and Victoria were said to have grown so close that they would "regularly text".
In early 2018, the friendship was still going strong as Vanity Fair reported: "They get along well and have been in touch recently. Meghan really likes Victoria’s style and was keen to pick her brains about pulling together a working wardrobe."
The Beckhams were also in attendance at Prince Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018, showing signs that they were still firmly friends.
Signs of a fall out
Despite a seemingly solid friendship over the years, the relationship appeared frayed when tension emerged when reports about Victoria helping out Meghan were published. Harry and Meghan were said to be worried that close friends might be leaking stories about them and were keen to find out who could be behind it.
According to the Mail On Sunday, Harry confronted David with his suspicions in a phone call, leaving the athlete "furious". An insider close to the Beckhams added: "Any making up now is so unlikely".
At the time, another insider previously told The Sun: "Inexplicably, [Meghan] feared Victoria was behind it — I mean, the idea that Victoria Beckham would be personally ringing journalists to give them a scoop is ridiculous — and spoke to Harry about it.
"Harry is very protective of Meghan, and decided to deal with the matter head-on, by directly contacting his good pal, David. He quickly put Harry right, and the two men agreed to move on — but it certainly made things awkward for a while."
The 'feud' rumours didn't disappear though, and even this year the friendship between the former royals and the Beckhams has appeared strained.
Yet the pair have reportedly mended their relationship, with Prince Harry was seen supporting Inter Miami, which is co-owned by the footballer. Last month Harry was seen enjoying an Inter Miami game, as the Herons won a 3-1 victory over the MLS Cup holders LAFC. The 38-year-old couldn't contain his excitement before the game and was seen with a wide smile on his face as he watched on from the stand.
