Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have a brand new celebrity status and no longer need to trade on their Royal name or status, according to an expert.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended a star-studded charity event on Friday, which appears to have solidified their celebrity status among the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Ellen DeGeneres, and the host of the event Kevin Costner.
And now it seems that the Royal duo, who stepped down from being senior Royals in 2020 before they moved to California, are ready to completely leave their Royal credentials behind once and for all. Being Royal is no longer a part of their lives, and it seems that the young couple are keen to move on completely, according to an expert.
Author of The Last Queen and Royal expert Clive Irving has spoken about the couple's celebrity status and potentially relinquishing their credentials. Speaking to the Express US, Clive said: "Harry and Meghan's celebrity used to rest on the former's connection to the Royal Family, but they've now been celebrities in their own right for so long that they don't need to trade on that anymore. That's no longer part of their lives."
He also touched on how the couple turning away from the British Royal Family suggests that moving forward, Meghan won't attend Royal events and engagements through the fear of not wanting to be "accused of embarrassing" the King, or "being a burden on the monarchy".
This comes after the Montecito-based couple were all smiles as they reunited with a string of famous faces at actor Kevin Costner's One805 Live! charity event for first responders. The event, which was held at Kevin's $26 million polo field in Santa Barbara, saw the couple get up on-stage and mingle with attendees, all while beaming from ear-to-ear.
The star-studded event was attended by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, who interviewed the Sussexes in 2021, and Ellen DeGeneres, as well as Katy Perry's mum and dad who are said to have snapped a photo with the Royal couple.
